Understanding the heart and soul in the words of Abu Hamid Ghazali and comparing in whit Mulla Sadra's views

Abstract

The Soul is the central concept or the most complex philosophical terms or concepts, and philosophers have discussed it. Finding its dimensions and how to define it is one of the most difficult in reading philosophy. In Ghazali's philosophy, it is defined in in way, and in Mulla Sadra's philosophy in another. The same is true of “heart”. Ghazali also interpreted it as “heart”. Howeverm Mulla Sadra has specific definition of heart. This research pursues one main gole and several sub – goals. Its main goal is to try to understand the meaning and concept of “soul” and “heart” in the thought of Ghazali and Sadr al-Mutalahin Shirazi, and its sub – goals are to find the definitions of these two concepts in the works of the two philosophers and to find common and points of difference in their views.

Research finding show that the soul is spiritual and the body is the place where the soul or heart has landed and is guest there for a while. The thing the body does affect the quality of the soul.
