This research conducts a comparative study of "the sacred" in Christian theology and contemporary Islamic philosophy, focusing on the intersection of analytical and continental traditions. It aims to analyze modern interpretations of this concept in response to contemporary epistemological and phenomenological challenges. Using a comparative-analytical method, data is drawn from foundational texts of both traditions.

In Christian theology, the views of Rudolf Otto in The Idea of the Holy and later developments by Paul Tillich are analyzed. In Islamic philosophy, the focus is on Allameh Tabataba’i and Martyr Motahhari and their explanation of the relationship between the sacred and demonstrative rationality. The article innovates by integrating analytical and phenomenological approaches for a multidimensional understanding.

Findings show Christian theology emphasizes the "experiential and existential dimension" of the sacred against nihilism, while Islamic philosophy highlights its "rational and ontological dimension." Both traditions converge in offering reinterpretations of the sacred that resist scientific reductionism while connecting to contemporary humanity's lifeworld and moral concerns. Ultimately, a tripartite dialogue—interreligious, analytical, and continental—can foster a global philosophical theology with a renewed, effective approach.
