Journal Article 2022 10 03 The discussion of the soul and its powers has always been a concern of philosophers. One of these powers is the memory, in the interpretation of which Aristotle and Ibn Sina have chosen two separate paths. Ibn Sina considers memory to be the treasure trove of illusions. In contrast, Aristotle does not mention the power of illusion. Hence, he does not discuss its treasure trove and according to his explanations, he almost equates memory with imagination. In this article, we seek to examine the views of Ibn Sina and Aristotle on the function of memory to show the differences and similarities between the two philosophers. Naturally, we will also determine the extent to which Ibn Sina is affected by Aristotle on the issue of memory. The type of this study is the historiography of thought, extracting opinions from different sources, comparing and critically examining them. The conclusion is briefly that Ibn Sina was influenced by Aristotle in most matters of the soul, but his interpretation of memory differs fundamentally from that of Aristotle. In his interpretation of memory, Aristotle pays special attention to remembrance and the element of time in the formation of memory, but Ibn Sina does not mention the role of time and remembrance. بحث از نفس و قوایش همواره از دغدغه‌های فیلسوفان بوده است. یکی از این قوا حافظه است. ارسطو و ابن‌سینا در تفسیر این قوه از نفس، دو راه جداگانه انتخاب کرده‌اند. ابن‌سینا حافظه را خزانه وهم می‌داند. در مقابل، ارسطو از قوه وهم نامی نمی‌برد و از این‌رو درباره خزانه‌اش نیز بحث نمی‌کند و با توضیحاتی که می‌دهد تقریباً حافظه را با قوه تخیل یکی می‌داند. در این مقاله در صدد بررسی نظر ابن‌سینا و ارسطو درباره کارکرد حافظه هستیم تا وجوه افتراق و تشابه این دو فیلسوف را نشان دهیم. طبعاً میزان تأثیرپذیری ابن‌سینا از ارسطو در مسئله حافظه را نیز مشخص خواهیم کرد. سنخ این مطالعه تاریخ‌نگاری اندیشه و استخراج آرا از منابع مختلف، مقایسه میان آنها و بررسی نقادانه است. نتیجه اجمالی این است که ابن‌سینا در بیشتر مباحث نفس از ارسطو متأثر بوده است، اما تفسیرش از حافظه با تفسیر ارسطو تفاوت‌های بنیادینی دارد. ارسطو در تفسیرش از حافظه به یادآوری و عنصر زمان در شکل‌گیری حافظه توجه ویژه دارد، اما ابن‌سینا از نقش زمان و یادآوری، سخنی به میان نمی‌آورد. https://jcp.urd.ac.ir/article_146369_5556ba09de0211b50086882d59ebce35.pdf
